SIR 34 April 2020 Newsletter
A gush of bird-song, a patter of dew, A cloud, and a rainbow's warning, Suddenly sunshine and perfect blue-- An April day in the morning. Harriet Prescott Spofford
Big SIR
Bill Staack
I know these are trying times. CDC has asked everyone to shelter.
Due to the Coronavirus. Every thing is on hold, until further notice.
Stay safe and be well.

Little SIR
Bill Junge
Obviously, All of us are “Sheltering in Place”. My son is a doctor who allows me to go from my bed to the bathroom and back again. I have not left the house for fear of his wrath which is probably worse than getting the Virus. God-willing, this too shall pass someday, until then, everyone “Stay Home, and Stay Safe”. WE shall resume all SIRS activities when it is safe to do so. Reminder, the April luncheon is cancelled, and the May meeting is still on, but probably doubtful. All other SIRS activities are cancelled, including “official” golf dates. If guys want to play on their own, I can’t stop that. (Ever met a smart golfer??)
Treasurer's Report
Tom Reif
Since I know everyone is home, I have been calling people that haven’t
paid their dues. We are down to 5 people that I don’t have responses from,
both email and telephone. If you know something about these members,
please let me know. Three have disconnected phone numbers. The people
that have not responded are: George Christensen, Phil Markwart, Terry
O’Connor, Wynn Smith and Nel Trinca.
Sadly, 11 members have decided to drop out. They are Doug Brown, Al
Dunlop, Bob Hadley, Don Keith, Dave Lewis, Ron Lingl, Koe McAdams, Ed
McGovern, Mike Mishelhoff, Fred Walz and Ray Weaver
Please try to stay healthy during this crazy period.

Six of us brave souls enjoyed our last day of golf in the rain at Poppy Ridge with snow on all of the surrounding hill tops. I have tentatively put Poppy Ridge back on the schedule for Monday April 20th. I will keep all of the golfers updated on whether or not the head golf SIR allows us to resume play by that date.
I hope that not to many of us had to cancel travel plans due to the coronavirus. Stay safe, hope to see everybody sooner than later!
PS, don’t get thrown out of any city parks for practicing your golf swing like I did...

Hope this newsletter finds you all well.
Due to COVID-19, the monthly gatherings of the SIR Wine Club are suspended indefinitely. I'll send another email when the Shelter in Place Order has been lifted and it seems safe to get together again.
BRIDGE
CHUCK BROWN
In March, we did not meet at the John Knox Presbyterian Church in Dublin. We could not get eight players together for two tables.
Due to the Shelter in Place Orders we will not be meeting for Bridge on April 10th.
Don Roberts
I'll let everyone know when we'll meet again at the Pleasanton Senior.

The once a month Breakfast Group
Jim Benham
As you know, Vic's has been sold to Laura (our waitress) and her husband Ernesto. Unfortunately the Shelter in Place Order has closed her dining room. However, they are open for carry-out and free delivery. I encourage everyone to support our local businesses by ordering your breakfast or lunch. You can also support them by calling and buying a gift certificate for use after the quarantine has been lifted.
