Big Sir
Big Sir Bevin Hong
President's notes:
As Big SIR this year, my goal is simple: to make sure our branch continues to be a place where every member can find connection, purpose, and enjoyment. With a group our size—about 100 strong—I don’t expect everyone to participate in everything. That’s neither realistic nor necessary. What is important to me is that we offer a wide range of activities (golf, bocce, coffee, breakfast, lunch or enjoying your beverage of choice) and opportunities, so that each member can find something that fits their interests, comfort level, and stage of life.
Retirement brings freedom, but it can also bring unexpected challenges—loneliness, loss of routine, or a shift in identity and purpose. SIR exists to help overcome those hurdles by fostering friendship, shared experiences, and meaningful engagement. Whether it’s a monthly luncheon, a regular activity, or simply a conversation with a fellow member, my hope is that SIR continues to be a welcoming place where no one feels left out and everyone feels they belong.
If we’re doing that, then we’re fulfilling the very reason SIR exists.

Little Sir Casey Brierley
A Note From Your Little Sir
Hi Everyone I'm Casey Brierley your new Little Sir for 2026. I look forward to working with everyone in the upcoming year. My main job is to line up some interesting speakers for our luncheon meetings. If you have any suggestions I would appreciate your input . You can email me at [email protected]. All ideas and names are welcome as we want diverse topics at our meetings.
Our speaker for January 8th will be Denise Steckel a Community Education Volunteer with the Alzheimers Association. Her topic is "10 Warning Signs of Alzheimer's". Denise has personal experience in caring for her mother going through the process. There is a lot of new information on this topic and new treatment options that provide some hope. Hope to see everyone at the next meeting!
