Big SIR
Jim Benham
I hope you all enjoyed a great Easter and Passover. The rains are gone, spring weather has arrived along with beautiful green hills, lawns are lush, trees are budding and of course hay fever has arrived at the same time. May is the month to get the sprinkler system operating, fertilize the lawn, plant your tomatoes and get ready for summer. We had a week of very warm weather which is just a precursor of beautiful days ahead.
I was encouraged to see we had three guests last month who all opted to become new members. We welcome you and encourage you to take advantage of our many activities. If you don’t see your favorite activity, just speak up and we will try to get a new one started. As always, please reach out to your friends and acquaintances and bring some potential new members to lunch this month. Remember, guests eat free and if they become a member, you receive a good bottle of wine or a free lunch.
SIR 34 Annual Picnic
Please remember to bring your check for the summer picnic to be held at the Fairgrounds on Friday, June 28. Tickets are $30 and that includes free admission to the Fair and a great lunch. We invite all spouses and significant others as well as any of your retired friends. Finish lunch and stroll next door and win big betting on the ponies or buy a bale of hay as I always seem to do.

Treasurer's Report
Tom Reif
Please note: If you come in late for a meeting and there is no one at the table to buy a lunch ticket, please check the sign at the table to see where a treasurer (Wendell Moen, Jack Ogden or Tom Reif) is sitting and buy your ticket. Thanks for your help.
Lunch
Ron Jensen
There is an important change in the policy for reporting absence from our SIR luncheons. Starting in March, there is NO need to inform the attendance chair whether you will be absent from this meeting or any other meeting.
If you have a conflict and cannot attend, you will marked as absent from that luncheon by the fact that you did not use your badge that month.
Otherwise PLEASE SHOW UP FOR THE LUNCHEONS.

Beer Group

The beer drinking SIRs met at Bottle Taps in March. Turn out was great, one of our best with 15 SIRs at Bottle Taps. A good time was had by all, there were many good beers to sample, and the conversation also flowed freely. Next event is Thursday, May 9th.

Poker
Bill Junges
We met April 10th at Tom Pico’s house and welcomed Dennis Alcalde to our group for his first game and he cleaned us out. I think we recruited a card shark.
Changes are coming, as I turned over the stewardship of the Poker Group to Bill Junge. I think he will do a great job, if interested in playing or just finding out more info, e-mail Bill at [email protected]. Bill will send out an announcement detailing May’s game time and place
