SIR Branch 34 June Newsletter
Big SIR
Jack Parker
Keville & I are home from our driving tour of our National Parks in Utah, Arizona & Colorado. We were amazed by the splendor and majesty of these national treasures. I only wish that we had done this 25 years ago, so that I could have enjoyed some of the more difficult hiking trails. Kudo’s to our National Park Service. They do a great job informing and serving the public at the parks.
Many thanks to Little Sir, Adrian Verdusco for holding down the fort. Sorry I missed the speaker. I understand he did a nice job.
In May, the Wine Club met at the lovely home of Gene and Ann Pons. The weather co-operated and we were able to enjoy the outside. The view from their deck of Dublin, the Dublin hills and the valley between was a wonderful surprise. Thanks Gene and Ann for sharing delightful evening.
Bocce is back in full swing. They meet at the Pleasanton Senior Center at 9 AM on the 1st & 3rd Tuesdays each month. Everyone is welcome, come on out.
As always I remind everyone that we need to bring guests. Remember that your invited potential member gets his 1st lunch on the house. If you enjoy Sir’s, then let your friends in on the secret.
Jack Parker.

Golf
Jim Kenna
Finally, some spring golf - a real pleasure after 5 months of rain outs, wet courses and unmaintained areas etc. Wet winter and minimal play all winter has left courses in best shape we have seen in recent years. Looking forward to great course conditions in coming months and hopeful for good player turnouts.
Also a hearty welcome to new golf members - Dave Wilmore, Bob Witting and Scot Paulson.
Apologies if I left anyone out.
Revised Golf Schedule can be viewed here

BRIDGE
CHUCK BROWN
The Bridge group meets the second Tuesday every month at the Hacienda Motor
Home Park on Vineyard Ave. in Pleasanton. In May there was no Bridge played as we could not get enough players.

Dance Carl Churilo
Below are dance places which I feel are very good and reasonably priced:
- Rossmoor Senior Community: last Sunday of the month, great dance floor
- DJ music, and a is only $5 per person.
- Merry Mixers at the Elks Club in Walnut Creek: twice a month – 1 st and 3 the Friday of each month, live band, smaller dance floor but fun.
- Castle Rock Restaurant, Livermore: every Sunday and Tuesday night. Live band.
- Two Left Feet, Danville, every Sunday afternoon, DJ music, and nice dance floor
If you are interested in joining us let Carl know: 925-967-8177, email [email protected] or go to http://ballroombayarea.wordpress.com/2016/03/03/may-2016 for dance events all over the Bay area.

Beer Group
Steve Annen
We met in the patio at Handles in downtown Pleasanton in May. Nice sunny day, a bit windy, so there were Oakland A's and Giants blankets wrapped around a few of our folks. A small but cheerful group of beer lovers (there was one Martini drinker!) enjoyed the afternoon.
Beginning in June we'll be meeting at the home of members for the summer months. Our first summer event is at the home of Steve Annin (we'll get a chance to see the results of all that remodeling over the winter!) on Thursday, June 22 starting at 5pm. The theme is Summer Brews, so bring your favorite for sampling.
Bocce
Steve Annen
The Bocce groups meets the first and third Tuesdays at the Senior Center, start time is now 9am, come join us.
Walking
Steve Annen
The walking group has been put on hold for a while.
Poker
Jim Benham
This is a fun causal game, come join us some time. We usually meet on the last Tuesday, first hand at 6pm, last at 10pm, come Heaven or (Hell) high water.
Supper Club
Steve Annen
Our next outing is in July at the home of Robin and Carol Little.

The once a month Breakfast Group
Jim Benham
Eight members of the breakfast club, now named, the Benham boys, met at Vic's Wednesday morning. We had a few less than the last two months as some of the golfers were out squeezing in another game before the weather gets too hot. Lots of discussions including snakes, insects and tranchulas followed by Trumps Middle East trip. The next breakfast get together is Wednesday, June 28 at 8:30 at Vic's All Star Kitchen in downtown Pleasanton.
The poker club met at Dale Bowman's house on Tuesday, June 27, more than likely someone mentioned that there were three bumps left.
Please see Jim Benham or e-mail him at [email protected] to get more info or to join the breakfast and/or poker club.
