President/Big SIR, Gary Kohler:
Notes from our President/Big SIR Gary Kohler,
Happy Spring Brothers!! This is the time of year for renewal energizing planting, growing, getting outdoors, and getting TRULY involved with YOUR SIRs community.
We hope you all had a great Easter/Passover/Spring Break and are getting ready for Mother's Day, Memorial Day, your grandkids graduations, and all the fun that comes along with Spring's eventual transition to Summer and the longer warmer days of summer.
We can look forward to SIRs Wine group events in our backyards, and the beer group is thinking about doing a sausage BBQ this summer. Get outdoors and get moving and join us at our golf and bocce ball events.
We recently enjoyed a great Wine Group event at Tenuta Vineyards as we all sat around outdoors in the warming spring air enjoying the wine, comradery, and a fun and lively tour of the winery event space and unique tap Room, with wall to wall (and celling) decor featuring album covers from some of the greatest Albums of all time with their very unique juke box. Looking forward to meeting more of you at the next events whether its poker, book exchange, technology, beer, wine, golf and most of all our monthly lunch programs. Perhaps you may want to help us start up a new activity like Hiking, fishing, bowling, couples, supper club, pickleball or some other activity. Let us know and let's see if we can get something started soon.
Don't forget our annual Picnic on July 10th. Tickets with be on sale at our May luncheon.
Please let me (or any Board Member or Activity Chair) know if you would like to be a speaker at our monthly lunches or if you know of someone you can recommend to us.
You may contact me at [email protected] or (925) 596-0402
Enjoy the Merry Month of May and we hope to see you soon.

Little Sir Bevin Hong
Dear Fellow SIR Members,
We’re pleased to welcome Dr. Ron Adamson as our May luncheon speaker. Dr. Adamson has spent his career researching materials used in nuclear reactors. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, studying the effects of space irradiation on materials, and continued his work on neutron irradiation in Harwell, England. He later joined GE Nuclear Energy at Vallecitos Nuclear Center, where he led R&D efforts on reactor fuels and materials.
With over 130 technical papers and 17 patents, Dr. Adamson has received numerous international honors, including the prestigious Kroll Medal. An active member of the Fremont community, he sings in his church choir and serves on the Washington Hospital board. He looks forward to speaking with us about radiation and its effects on both materials and the human body.
I'll see everyone on May 1st.
Warm regards,
Bevin Hong
Little Sir
