They talk about big skies in the western United States, and they may indeed have them, but you have never seen such lofty clouds, such towering anvils, as in Iowa in July.”
― Bill Bryson, The Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid

That is the truly beautiful and encouraging aspect of freedom, no one struggles for it just for himself.Fanny Lewald

"There are lots of emotions that go with the fourth of July." - Dan Harmon

You have to love a nation that celebrates its independence every July 4th, not with a parade of guns, tanks, and soldiers who file by the White House in a show of strength and muscle, but with family picnics where kids throw Frisbees, the potato salad gets iffy, and the flies die from happiness. You may think you have overeaten, but it is patriotism.
– Erma Bombeck

The saying knee-high by the fourth of July was long used by farmers to judge the success of their corn crops—it means that growing conditions have been favorable, the crops are off to a good start, and big yields are expected come fall—and the adage remains popular today, despite being antiquated. Innovation in everything from seeds and treatments to equipment and tires has enabled earlier planting and faster-growing, higher-yielding corn.

We're exploring the reality of a general luncheon meeting in August or September.  More about that later.  .  State SIR has authorized the Board to approve indoor and outdoor activities as long as the participants have been vaccinated and have signed the waiver.  We've approved all previous SIR 34 activities.    Those members responsible for these activities will be sending an email announcing their event in the very near future.

Remember everyone who attends an approved event must sign a waiver, that includes spouses, significant others, partners, friends and whoever else wants to join the festivities, so get that waiver to Tom Reif as soon as possible so we all can enjoy getting together again.

Once waivers are signed, take a photo with a camera or your phone and email it to tom@reif.us  Do it today.
