Big Sir Dave Willmore
Dear fellow SIRs
Well, 2023 has been off to a wet start with lots of much needed rain. The first 2 golf outings of the year and our first Bocce outing had to be cancelled due to flooded courses and bocce courts. Hopefully, we can continue these outings without any further impact in the future.
We have started our initiative in January on 'Growth and Renewal' for the branch.... A small group of us has started to meet regularly to explore ideas on increasing our membership and reaching out to members who we haven't seen for a while. I also announced in the January meeting a prize of 'Recruiter of the Year'. I will present to the SIR who brings in the most new members in 2023 a bottle of their favorite alcoholic beverage. I hope that some of you can join us on this initiative.
At our upcoming February luncheon, our speaker will be Nate Branch, a former Harlem Globetrotter, who will share some interesting stories about his life...
Looking forward to seeing you all at the February 2nd meeting....
Dave Willmore
Activities
“Greetings, with Steve Annen’s departure, I will attempt to fill his rather large shoes as Activities Chair. If anyone would like to start a group, or join a group, or get information - you can call me at 925 353 0234 or (better) email at [email protected]. Looking forward to an active year with SIRS.”

Next Breakfast To be announced during February luncheon
Over half of our members paid their dues in January. Now the rest of you need to get your dues paid. For the first time in over 20 years, we are increasing the dues from $20 to $25.00. The State SIR organization increased their fee from $7/member to $8/member. That plus increased expenses required an increase in our annual dues.
Please be ready to pay your $25 dues at our February meeting. The preferred payment is via a check made out to SIR 34. This will increase your likelihood that it gets credited properly. But cash is also happily accepted. Please show your badge so that old guys (like me) can get your name right. If you won’t be at the February meeting, please mail your $25 check to:
