This morning, the sun endures past dawn. I realize that it is August: the summer's last stand.”
― Sara Baume, A Line Made by Walking

“Every year, the bright Scandinavian summer nights fade without anyone's noticing. One evening in August you have an errand outdoors, and all of a sudden it's pitch-black. It is still summer, but the summer is no longer alive.”
― Tove Jansson, The Summer Book

“The month of August had turned into a griddle where the days just lay there and sizzled.”
― Sue Monk Kidd, The Secret Life of Bees

“Summer has no day,' she said. 'We can't possibly have a summer love. So many people have tried that the name's become proverbial. Summer is only the unfulfilled promise of spring, a charlatan in place of the warm balmy nights I dream of in April. It's a sad season of life without growth...it has no day.”
― F. Scott Fitzgerald, This Side of Paradise
Bill Staack & Bill Junge:  We had our first luncheon meeting on Thursday, August 5th, just under 50 members attended.  Masks were required while not eating or drinking.  Our next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, September 2 beginning at 11am.  Speaker to be announced.  Below are photos from the August luncheon.

Our speaker was Steve Van Dorn, President and CEO of the Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce.  He gave a very good summary of many of the activities taking place in Pleasanton.  He discussed the new 10X Genomics facility currently under construction in Stoneridge Mall, the Costco Project, Cook’s Seafood, downtown restaurants opening including Zachery’s and renovations and plans for the Pleasanton Hotel. He also discussed the downtown parklets for outdoor dining and a number of other interesting projects happening in Pleasanton.

The Wine Group held its first meeting at the home of Wendell and Rose Moen's    home in July, it looks like everyone, including the two who "got the Memo"            enjoyed the celebration.

Beer Group
Tom and Gail Crawford held a Beer Group meeting in July.  We all enjoyed seeing one another, having a cup or two and the surrounding in the Crawford's spacious back yard (including an eaves dropping Giraffe!)
