President/Big SIR, Gary Kohler:
President's notes:
Welcome to Fall my SIR Brothers!!
Just one more August heat wave to get through and then it is Pumpkin Spice Season!!
VP Bevin Hong and I just attended the State SIR meeting this last Tuesday and gained some insights into some improvements on the way.
Better technology for "real time" reporting, easier info sharing of events we can join in at other nearby chapters (i.e., Hiking with Livermore, and Fishing with San Leandro) and/or Statewide events, (i.e., Fishing, International Travel, Bowling, and competitive Bocce tournaments.) Our Chapter is a test site to eliminate manual updates to our membership and officer directories/rosters and with titles at the State and Chapter level instantly. We are eliminating the word retirement from the State SIR mission statement, as we are looking for younger members that may still have a full-time job, as well as all of us that retired from one job, but still find ourselves working at least part time or consulting etc. More improvements and activities to be announced in the coming months.
Just 3 more monthly lunch meetings for me (plus our Holiday party in December). Bevin has a great schedule of speakers for September, October, and November and will be scheduling our January and February programs to help preload those 2 months for the new VP/Little SIR for 2026.
Please let us know if you are looking for a new event we can start like PickleBall or Whiskey tasting or whatever. We can either start up the activity ourselves or see if we can join in with other nearby chapters like San Ramon/Danville, Walnut Creek, Fremont, Livermore, etc.
Please let us know if you are able to assist as an activity co-chair or Board Member (BEC) for 2026. We are especially looking for people with tech interest or experience to help us upgrade our website and RSVP and payment options online as well as folks who can help promote/recruit for SIR through social media and other outreach options.
I will be manning a booth at the Pleasanton Farmers Market on Saturday October 18th and would like to have 3 or 4 others participate to break it up a bit and make sure we have a fun time while recruiting new members. Let me know if you are available to assist.

Little Sir Bevin Hong
Dear Fellow SIR Members,
A Note from Your Little SIR – September Update
We are pleased to welcome David Stark as our speaker for the September SIR’s luncheon. David has been deeply involved in the East Bay real estate market for many years, working with REALTORS®, homeowners, and community leaders to better understand local housing trends and policies.
He is a frequent contributor to conversations about housing challenges and opportunities in our region, and recently appeared on KTVU to share insights about the shifting East Bay housing market and its impact on both buyers and sellers.
David brings a wealth of knowledge and a thoughtful perspective on one of the most important issues facing our communities today. We look forward to hearing his take on what’s ahead for East Bay housing and how these changes affect all of us.
Warm regards,
Bevin Hong
