Outgoing Big Sir Bill Junge
As I wind down my tenure this year, I wish to thank my Little Sir Dave Willmore and the entire Board for their effort and dedication as we begin to come out of the COVID situation. Our numbers are down a bit, understandably, but the new Big Sir is going to make a concerted effort to bring things back into line. Recruiting new, active participants to our group is the key to our SIRS organization. I call on everyone to invite a friend, neighbor, or brother-in-law to join us….but only if they want to be active!!!
The December Christmas Party luncheon, on December1, 2022, will have over 90 attendees. And our visit from Santa with his bag of “goodies” should be the high-light of the day! This is a “normal” luncheon, start time for cocktails and general bull session is 11:00AM, and the luncheon festivities will commence at Noon. Pick up your badges as usual. A listing of the Table assignments will be at the front table at check-in. See you all there. “Be There Or Be Square”.

Incomig Big Sir Comment
As we end 2022 and I take on the role of Big SIR, I'd like first to express my sincere thanks to our outgoing Big SIR, Bill Junge.... Bill has done a wonderful job as Big SIR over the last two years and I only hope that I can fill his shoes adequately.
Over the last year, we have seen our membership drop from 146 to 127, a net loss of 19 members. Much of this has been due to the pandemic and we, as a branch are not alone in losing members. Now that the pandemic is over, I want to set a goal of growing our membership back to our 2021 levels. Several other SIRs branches were able to maintain and even grow their membership over the same period and I've been listening to some ideas that have worked for them. More about this at our January meeting...
Early next year, I'd like also to set up some committees of members who can contribute their experience and ideas in the following areas:
Awards and recognition: Some members have gone above and beyond over the years in serving our branch. SIRs has an awards and recognition program and I'd like the committee to determine who should receive these awards for their service...
Lunchtime speakers and events: There are some excellent speakers in the Bay Area. I'd like to get a team together to identify interesting and refreshing speakers and invite them to speak at future meetings in 2023. I'd also like this group to brainstorm and propose some events and outings for members in 2023.
New membership: There are a number of new ideas for increasing membership. I'd like to have a team who can explore these and brainstorm and implement new ideas to get more members into the branch.
I look forward to seeing you and your spouses at the upcoming Christmas luncheon and also to wish you and your families a Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy 2023!
