COVID-19 SIP Orders
"Smell brings to mind … a family dinner of pot roast and sweet potatoes during a myrtle-mad August in a Midwestern town. Smells detonate softly in our memory like poignant land mines hidden under the weedy mass of years."—Diane Ackerman, American writer
August is a gentle reminder for not doing a single thing from your new year resolution for seven months and not doing it for next five.
Crestless Wave
The first week of August hangs at the very top of summer, the top of the live-long year, like the highest seat of a Ferris wheel when it pauses in its turning. The weeks that come before are only a climb from balmy spring, and those that follow a drop to the chill of autumn, but the first week of August is motionless, and hot. It is curiously silent, too, with blank white dawns and glaring noons, and sunsets smeared with too much color. Often at night there is lightning, but it quivers all alone.
Natalie Babbitt
“We have a chance to do something extraordinary. As we head out of this pandemic we can change the world. Create a world of love. A world where we are kind to each other. A world were we are kind no matter what class, race, sexual orientation, what religion or lack of or what job we have. A world we don't judge those at the food bank because that may be us if things were just slightly different. Let love and kindness be our roadmap.”

We're sure many of you are aware of the video conferencing software called Zoom. Zoom allows small and large groups to join in a meeting and visit with each other. Here is a picture of a typical Zoom session. This was the breakfast group meeting held on July 29th.
There was no agenda, just conversation between the six of us. Back in the olden days, when we had meetings, many of you set up tables for the group that you always had lunch with. I am offering you the chance to do that using Zoom. It doesn’t have to be a regular meeting, could just be a one shot deal. But it would give you a chance to see your old lunch mates and chat with them. Since the tables only held 10 people, the groups would be reasonable small.
If you are interested in doing this, you can send me the names of your table friends and I will try to set up a zoom session for your table. Send the names to me at [email protected]
