SIR 34 January 2018 Newsletter
A few photos from our Christmas Party
Big SIR
Adrian Verduzco
Happy New Year to all! Welcome to 2018.
First of all, I would like to thank Jack Parker for his great work as Big Sir last year. Branch 34 is in great shape thanks to Jack’s efforts. Also many thanks to all board members and all our volunteers that support our activities, the branch could not run as smoothly without their terrific work. In addition, I would like to thank everyone for all the support I received during my time as Little Sir as it made that task easier and fun.
In the last few years our branch has become healthier by all the new activities made available and all the new members that have become part of our group. New activities and ideas are always welcome and will keep our group a fun place to be by trying something new and making new friends.
Again, Happy 2018 to everyone and let’s keep Branch 34 a welcoming group.

Guest Speaker
Our guest speaker for January is Rachel Prater who is the Recreational Coordinator for the Pleasanton Senior Center. She will talk about how the center works to connect with older adults to provide vital services to the residents of Pleasanton and surrounding areas that help us stay healthy and independent. There are a surprising number of activities and services that include everything from health screening, eye glass repair, hearing aid help, a great lunch program, exercise classes, woodworking, computer classes to mention just a few. This promises to be an interesting and fact filled presentation on what the Senior Center provides to help us in our golden years.
Treasurer's Report

It’s A New Year – That Means It’s Dues Time!
We will be collecting annual dues at the January and February meetings. Dues will be $20 again this year. The dues have been the same for more than 20 YEARS! When you pay your dues, please show us your badge so we get it credited correctly. Checks made out to SIR Branch 34 are preferred and this doubles your odds of us getting it documented properly.
Please note: If you come in late for a meeting and there is no one at the table to buy a lunch ticket, please check the sign at the table to see where a treasurer (Wendell Moen, Jack Ogden or Tom Reif) is sitting and buy your ticket. Thanks for your help.

Wine Tasters Club
Larry Lindsey
We are getting ready for 2018. I want to thank those who hosted our monthly wine events. I really appreciate your stepping up and allowing us to come into your homes to enjoy the wine and food that we all bring. I hope that some who have not hosted will be able to open their home for one of our wine events next year.
Our next wine tasting will be in January and will be at my home on the 9th, starting at 6:30. We have a full house so we will not be able to accommodate any who have not already confirmed their attendance. If your plans have changed and you cannot attend please let me know.

BRIDGE
CHUCK BROWN
The Bridge Group met for the last time at the Hacienda Motor Home Park on Vineyard Ave. in Pleasanton in December. We had four tables and the winners were:
Chan Eason, Peter McIntyre, Bill Green and Joe Biggs.
In January, we will be meeting on Tuesday the 9th. at our new location, John Knox Presbyterian Church 7421 Amarillo Road, Dublin.
Dance Carl Churilo
The dancing still goes on and there are plenty of places to go out and become a hero to your spouse. As you all know, women love to dance, so why not take them to one of the places mention below and have a great time together.
The following are places to go Dancing which my opinion are very good and reasonably prices:
Camera Club
Don Roberts
Any questions about Camera Club get in touch with Don Roberts at 846-5145 or email [email protected]
