SIR Branch 34 May Newsletter
Big SIR
Jack Parker
I keep saying that spring is here. Let’s hope that I’m correct this month and there will be no more event cancellations due to bad weather.
We had a great turnout of the wine club at the Benham’s. Thanks Jim & Jane for hosting once again. The beer group met at Mc Cays. A few wives attended and they enjoyed the festivities as well. If you need information regarding when & where of the beer events, contact Steve Annen [email protected]. I encourage everyone to participate in at least 1 or 2 Sir activities. Check the white board for dates and times.
We are still missing a travel Co-Ordinator. In the past Sirs 34 came up with some great trips for members and wives. If anyone is interested in working on a travel committee, please let me know.
Membership is always a part of the Big Sir monthly message. Last month was our best month for guests. We will be inducting 4 new members in May. In the Moraga Sir’s 171 newsletter, big Sir Ralph said “keep bringing those guests. Once we get them here, there is an excellent chance they will join up with us! Why not? What’s better than meeting with friends, eating good food and participating in fun activities”
Have a great May,
Big Sir, Jack
Will Rogers Quote of the month: “Good judgement comes from experience, and a lot of that comes from Bad judgement”.
The search for a Little Sir for 2018 continues! Anyone interested in learning more about SIRs or the duties of the Little Sir, please contact one of the members listed below. Thanks

Golf
We gained two new members in April - Scot Paulson and Bob Wittig. However, weather continues to inhibit course maintenance and hence participation and enjoyment.
It is also time to start work on the 2018 schedule; feel free to share pro and con thoughts with Jim Kenna by phone, email or in person. Hope those who played the Reserve at Spanos Park on the 27th enjoyed the day. We were all given a complimentary round so you couldn't beat it even for half the price.
Revised Golf Schedule can be viewed here

WINE TASTING
LARRY LINDSEY
The wine tasting for April was at Jim & Jane Benham's home, we sampled wines from the Monterey/Carmel Valley region. The food and camaraderie was excellent thanks Jim & Jane Benham.
Our May wine tasting is set for Tuesday, May 16 at Gene & Ann Pons home. Their choice of wine for the event is Italian wines. Ann will just be returning from Italy and she wants to keep the Italian wines flowing as long as possible.

BRIDGE
CHUCK BROWN

Our next meeting will be Tuesday May 9th.
Dance Carl Churilo
Below are dance places which I feel are very good and reasonably priced:
Allegro in Emeryville for dancing on Friday night, Saturday night, and Sunday afternoon. Also, if you’re interested there is a live band on Saturday night for Salsa dancing. Been there and done that as well. They have 3 dance floors, each one has different styles of dancing. Go to their Website and check it out. My wife and I enjoy dancing there at least 2 of the 3 nights. They have a dance lesson before each party which is included in admission. https://allegroballroom.com
Rossmoor Senior Community: last Sunday of the month, great dance floor, DJ music, and is only $5 per person.
Merry Mixers at the Elks Club in Walnut Creek: 1st and 3rd Friday of each month, live band, smaller dance floor but fun.
Castle Rock Restaurant, Livermore: every Sunday and Tuesday night. Live band.
Two Left Feet, Danville, every Sunday afternoon, DJ music, and nice dance floor
If you are interested in joining us, let me know, Carl: 925-967-8177 or email me at [email protected] or go to the below Website for dance events all over the Bay area.
