May you Fall in love with October
and all the beauty it brings,

the turning of the leaves,
On each blessed autumn day”

Christmas Party
Big SIR
Jim Benham
Fall has arrived with its warm days and cool nights, my favorite time of the year.  Although we have a few warm days ahead of us, it is a great time of the year.
Please keep in mind the annual Christmas Party on Thursday December 5 at the Castlewood Country Club. Tickets will be sold at both the October and November lunches. For our new members, this is a great evening and I hope you are able to attend.  It is a fun night of cocktails, dinner and dancing or just listening to the music and conversing with other SIRs.  The women love it.

For our new members, remember to get involved with some of the many activities that our branch has to offer. It’s a great way of making new friends and making your retirement days enjoyable.
Please bring potential new members with you to our luncheon, they eat free and if they join, you get a bottle of wine or $25.00.

Little SIR

Bill Staack
Guest Speaker
Our guest speaker in October will be the Honorable Catharine B. Baker who represented the 16th State Assembly District from 2014 through 2018. She is now Special Counsel at Hoge Fenton, where she advises businesses and non-profits.  We had her as a speaker 3 years ago and she gave an interesting non-partisan talk.  We look forward to hearing from her again.

Treasurer's Report
Tom Reif
Please note: If you come in late for a meeting and there is no one at the table to buy a lunch ticket, please check the sign at the table to see where a treasurer (Wendell Moen, Jack Ogden or Tom Reif) is sitting and buy your ticket. Thanks for your help.

The Second Annual Holiday Tea at the Senior Center is scheduled for December 5, 2019.  This is a popular event.  Last year several SIRs members helped in leading Christmas Songs at individual tables.  It was a lot of fun.  We need volunteers again this year, takes about an hour.  You'll be able to leave by 3pm in time to get ready for our annual Christmas Party.  Come join us and bring some Holiday Joy to the Senior Center.  To participate please contact Jim Benham, or Dick Small.  For additional information about the Holiday Tea and Cakes event click here.
