SIR 34 September 2019 Newsletter
"The breezes taste Of apple peel.
The air is full Of smells to feel-
Ripe fruit, old footballs, Burning brush,
New books, erasers, Chalk, and such.
The bee, his hive, Well-honeyed hum,
And Mother cuts Chrysanthemums.
Like plates washed clean With suds,
the days Are polished with A morning haze."
- John Updike, September

Big SIR
Jim Benham
Labor Day is neigh, our summer weather will be here for at least another month. Soon the cooler weather and our glorious fall will be here, my favorite time of the year, warm days, but not too warm, and chilly nights, which are great for sleeping. Please remember to take advantage of all of our many activities….. bocce ball, bridge, beer tasting, wine group, breakfast group, poker and golf. I have even heard rumblings of a Martini group starting up…..Beefeater, extra dry, on the rocks for me with an olive. I will be using Uber for these events.
Please continue to bring guests as our membership has dwindled down a little this year and it would be great to finish off the year by adding at least 5 new members.
Little SIR
Bill Staack
Guest Speaker
Our guest speaker this month is Steve Van Dorn who assumed the role of President of the Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce exactly one year ago. His talk should be interesting and informative.
Treasurer's Report
Tom Reif
Please note: If you come in late for a meeting and there is no one at the table to buy a lunch ticket, please check the sign at the table to see where a treasurer (Wendell Moen, Jack Ogden or Tom Reif) is sitting and buy your ticket. Thanks for your help.
